Question #4 > Goal or No Goal?

Player A has the puck and is in front of his opponents net. A defender has his stick tied up. Player A kicks the puck toward a teammate who is open on the other side of the net. The puck deflects off a defender and goes into the net. Is this a good goal? Why or Why not?

I say it is a goal.....normally a kicking motion by the attacking team that causes the puck to go into the net would be disallowed, but because it deflected off a defender I believe that a puck that goes in the net anyway by the defending team is allowed.

no goal. a puck that has been kicked and deflected into the goal by any player is not allowed.

No goal. The puck was illegally propelled. Even though it struck a defending player it is still waved off.

Question....does it hit the defenders stick? If so it would be a goal

Rule 624 (a), No goal

goal, went off an opponent, not directly off the kicking skate

Ron M. is correct. Rule 624 (a) states:
"Kicking the puck shall be permitted in all zones; however, a goal shall not be allowed if the puck was kicked by an attacking player and entered the goal either directly or after deflecting off any player including the goal keeper."
