Meet Our Staff

Dan McFall, (far right) Full Stride's owner and head instructor, grew up on the rink his father ran in Buffalo, NY. At age 14 he started playing Junior hockey with the Buffalo Jr. Sabers. He played 3 years with the team until he went off to play college hockey with the Michigan State Spartans in 1981. In '82 and '83 he played for Team U.S.A. in the World Junior Championships in Minnesota and Lenningrad.

In the '84 season, Dan set the record for most goals as a defenseman, with 14. He finished his career at Michigan State with All-American honors in his last two seasons, and went on to play as a professional in the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets.

From 1997 - '01 he was the head coach of the Burlington boys high school hockey team, and in the '97 - '98 season he led them to a state championship as a co-head coach.

You'd never guess it, but Dan can bake a mean loaf of bread (in a machine). If he's not screaming down a mountain (on the greens) on his snowboard, he's playing his Telecaster (or trying to).

Pete Olson, a Full Stride instructor and referee, grew up playing hockey on the outside rinks in Minnesota. He played his varsity hockey for Park High School, which is located a few minutes east of St. Paul, from 2001-2003. After high school, he played for Bemidji State University's club hockey team.

In the spring of 2008, he graduated from Bemidji State with a degree in Mass Communication. A few weeks later, he packed all of his belongings in his truck and moved to Vermont and attended Vermont College of Fine Arts, in Montpelier. In the summer of 2010, he received his Masters degree in fiction writing.

Pete had a quarter-life crisis after graduating and bought himself a motorcycle. He is currently an assistant coach for the Burlington boys high school hockey team.

Allison Lowry grew up in the deep south and knew nothing about hockey when she arrived in Vermont.  At the suggestion of a friend, she enrolled in Full Stride's Learn To Play Hockey and was hooked.  Her love of the game grew with each Instructional Hockey League she took, and with some persistence, eventually landed the coach!  Allison has hung up her skates for a while to start a photography business and become Full Stride's art department. One of these days, you might see her on the ice again.

Geoff Stirling is Canadian. In Canada there are only two things to do, play hockey and get ready to play hockey. Originally born in North Bay, Ontario, Geoff's family relocated to Montreal.

Montreal being the hotbed for hockey that it is, he didn't have to look very far to get on a team. Geoff grew up playing hockey on a number of different teams in a number of different leagues. None of which were highly competitive, but he played simply for the love of the game.

In 1997, Geoff moved to Burlington. He quickly became involved with Full Stride. First as a player, then as an instructor and referee. He's now working behind the scenes as Full Stride's software developer. Off the ice, Geoff dabbles around in photography and in the kitchen. Geoff can also speak French.
